Year-end tourneys
ViewFromVegas.com owner Dave Tuley has covered most every major handicapping tournament in Vegas since 1998 (and some in Reno). He has covered all 16 finals of the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship, though he just Tweeted about the most recent one on Jan. 23-25, 2015, at Treasure Island, though he wrote a short recap in his "Tuesdays With Tuley" column at ESPN.com.

Click this link to his story on the other major year-end tourney, the Horse Player World Series at the Orleans, which was held March 27-29, 2014, and won by Christian Hellmers of the "Horseplayers" TV show

BC Coverage
For a look at how ViewFromVegas.com previewed championship weekend, go to our dedicated Breeders' Cup Page. We look forward to doing it next fall with the races at one of our favorite tracks, Keeneland.

We still have the Breeders' Cup coming up Oct. 30-31, but on Friday, Sept. 11, the Wynn Las Vegas opened its future book for the 2016 Kentucky Derby and so now that gets top billing here as more people play and are interested in the Derby futures.

And now back to the Breeders' Cup futures. The BC Classic has been available at the Wynn since Dec. 22. The Distaff was added in early May. William Hill has also added its Classic futures

For the second straight year, William Hill posted odds for Horse of the Year...it closes in December before the end of the voting, per gaming regulations (note: William Hill stopped posting odds after American Pharoah completed the Triple Crown as he would be a prohibitive favorite...this was the last sheet before the Belmont):
